Our first speaker is Andrew Whiteley. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Conservation at The University of Massachusetts in Amherst.  Professor Whiteley's primary interests include conservation genetics research on fishes. Emily Monosson

The Relevance of Silent Spring after 50 years

Emily Monosson is our second speaker. Professor Monosson is an environmental toxicologist, writer, and consultant.  She is the author of the book Evolution in a Toxic World published in 2012. An adjunct professor at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, she also served as the editor of Motherhood, the Elephant in the Laboratory: Women Scientists Speak Out. Jan Dizard and Dee

Our Threatened Future

Professor Jan Dizard is our third speaker in the series. Professor Dizard is the Charles Hamilton Houston Professor in American Culture (Sociology) and Chair of Environmental Studies at Amherst College. Professor Dizard's departmental affiliations include American Studies, Anthropology, Sociology, and Environmental Studies. In his words, most of his teaching is "now devoted to exploring the ways we affect the environment and the ways we think about how we affect the environment–from denial to radical misanthropy.
